Nawābganj is a small district in Bangladesh’s northern region, Located in the Rajshahi division and sharing borders with India’s West Bengal state. The district spans 1, 732 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 1.5 million people. The area has a rich cultural heritage that reflects its history and traditions under various empires such as Maurya, Gupta, Mughal, And British Empires. Nawābganj’s architecture bears influences from these different periods. One of the main attractions in Nawābganj is the Puthia Rajbari complex that houses historic temples built during the 18th century by local landlords known as Zamindars.

These temples feature intricate terracotta designs depicting mythological stories and scenes from everyday life. Another significant attraction is Bagha Mosque – one of Bangladesh’s oldest surviving mosques dating back to the early 15th century during Sultanate rule. 1. The Battle of Plassey occurred in 1757 between the British East India Company and Siraj ud-Daulah, the Nawab of Bengal at that time. It took place near Murshidabad, which is now part of Nawābganj.
