The town is known for its industrial significance, As it houses one of the largest power plants in Bangladesh. The Siddhirganj Power Plant was established in 2002 and has since become an integral part of Bangladesh’s energy sector. The plant has a total capacity to generate 1, 000 megawatts of electricity, Which makes up approximately 10% of the country’s total power supply.
The plant uses natural gas as its primary fuel source and operates with advanced technology to ensure maximum efficiency. Apart from its industrial significance, Siddhirganj also holds cultural importance for Bangladeshis. It is home to several historic landmarks that attract tourists from all over the country. One such landmark is the Siddheshwari Temple, Which dates back to the 18th century and is dedicated to Goddess Kali. The temple’s architecture features intricate carvings and sculptures that showcase traditional Bengali craftsmanship. Another popular attraction in Siddhirganj is the Bhawal National Park, Located just outside of town limits.
This park covers an area of approximately 5, 022 hectares and boasts diverse flora and fauna species such as Bengal tigers, Indian elephants, Spotted deer and various bird species including peafowl.
