Sylhet is a city situated in the northeastern part of Bangladesh, Surrounded by hills and tea gardens. It is famous for its natural beauty, Cultural heritage, And historical landmarks.   1. The Battle of Sylhet in 1765 resulted in the annexation of Sylhet to British India after the British East India Company defeated the Nawab of Bengal.
  2. Shah Jalal, a famous Muslim saint, is credited with spreading Islam throughout the region after arriving in Sylhet in the late 14th century.
  3. The Jagannath Hall Tragedy occurred at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in 1985, resulting in the death of 26 students due to a fire.
  4. Kazi Nazrul Islam was a renowned Bengali poet and writer who spent time in both Churulia village near Asansol and Sylhet.
  5. The tea industry is an important part of Sylhet’s economy, with numerous tea gardens located throughout the region.
  6. During Bangladesh’s Language Movement (1952), people protested against Urdu being imposed as the sole official language by Pakistan’s government; this movement played a crucial role in shaping Bangladeshi identity and eventually led to Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan.
  7. Maulana Bhashani was born near Mymensingh but spent much of his life organizing peasants and workers around Sylhet for their rights; he played an important role during Bangladesh’s War for Independence (1971).
