Damanhur is a city in the Beheira Governorate of Egypt, Located on the west bank of the Nile River. It covers an area of approximately 1, 500 square kilometers and has a population of around 250, 000 people. The history of Damanhur dates back to ancient times when it was known as Timinhor and served as a strategic location for trading between Upper and Lower Egypt. During the Greco-Roman period, It was called Tamiehira and became an important center for agriculture and trade. One of Damanhur’s most notable landmarks is its Great Mosque which dates back to the Mamluk era.
