Gəncə, Also known as Ganja, Is the second-largest city in Azerbaijan and a major cultural and economic hub of the country. Located on the western side of Azerbaijan, Gəncə has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The city has been ruled by different empires throughout history, Including Persians, Arabs, Mongols, And Russians. One of the most notable landmarks in Gəncə is its historic Old Town. The Old Town is home to many ancient buildings and structures that have been preserved for centuries.

One such structure is the Juma Mosque which was built in the 17th century during Safavid rule. It features intricate designs on its walls and ceilings that reflect Islamic architecture. Another popular attraction in Gəncə is the Heydar Aliyev Park which covers an area of over 70 hectares. The park features various recreational facilities such as sports fields, Playgrounds for children and adults alike as well as a large artificial lake where visitors can enjoy boat rides or just relax by its shore. Ganja also boasts several museums that showcase Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage.

One such museum is Ganja History Museum which houses artifacts from different periods of Azerbaijani history including prehistoric times up until modern-day Azerbaijan. The city’s economy relies heavily on agriculture with cotton being one of its main crops alongside other agricultural products like grapes and tobacco among others. Ganja holds an important place when it comes to literature too since it was home to one of Azerbaijan’s greatest poets Nizami Ganjavi who lived during medieval times (12th century). His works are still studied today both locally and internationally making him one of Azerbaijan’s most celebrated literary figures.
