Shaoguan is a city in the northern part of Guangdong Province, China. It has a population of around 3.7 million people and covers an area of over 18, 000 square kilometers. The city is located at the confluence of two major rivers, The Wu and Bei Rivers, Which provide it with abundant water resources. Shaoguan has a long history dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) when it was known as Nanhai County. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), Shaoguan became an important transportation hub due to its strategic location on the ancient Silk Road.

Today, Shaoguan remains an important transportation center with several highways and railways connecting it to other major cities in China. One of Shaoguan’s most famous attractions is Danxia Mountain National Park which features unique red rock formations that have been shaped by wind and water erosion over millions of years.
