Jhenida is a district located in the southwestern region of Bangladesh within the Khulna division. Covering an area of 1964.77 square kilometers, It is home to a population of approximately 1.9 million people. The district has a long and fascinating history dating back to the 16th century when it was part of the Bengal Sultanate and served as an important center for trade and commerce due to its strategic location on the river Ganges. Later, Jhenida came under British rule before becoming part of East Pakistan following India’s independence in 1947.
