Büyükçekmece is a district located on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. It is situated on the shores of the Marmara Sea and surrounded by lush greenery. The name Büyükçekmece means big fountain in Turkish, Referring to the ancient Roman aqueducts built in this area. The district has a rich history dating back to ancient times. During the Byzantine era, Büyükçekmece was an important center for agriculture and trade due to its location on the Silk Road. Later during Ottoman rule, It became an important military outpost and home to many soldiers and their families.

Today, Büyükçekmece is a thriving residential area with over 200, 000 people living there.
